Diatom – Amoeba – Pollen
Digging Deeper : Clay Cargo
British Ceramics Biennial Stoke-on-Trent
Curated by Clayground Collective, a group of artists and writers were invited to respond to sites of historical and cultural significance centered on the clay pits and waterways around Stoke-on-Trent. Working from clay samples dug from the disused Saltwells clay pit near Dudley, Rob Kesseler examined microscopic samples of clay structures, revealing diatoms, amoebae and pollen grains normally destroyed in the firing process.
